Transparency, Accountability, and Competency

Transparency

Transparency is key. I will be transparent in all areas of leadership, to include jail deaths, use of force incidents, and body-worn camera footage. I will be very open and unafraid to engage in ALL communities. I will increase transparency and communications to San Diego residents through regular meetings, town halls, and forums to share and discuss the concerns of the communities.

Accountability

Accountability is equally important. I absolutely believe in holding ourselves in law enforcement -- whether it be Deputies or professional staff -- to a higher degree of integrity and accountability. In the last couple of years, we have seen millions of dollars paid out for claims of misconduct.

This is why I support SB2, the Kenneth Ross Jr. Police Decertification Act of 2021. Good cops do not want to work with bad cops. Now, the decertification process can ensure that peace officers who commit criminal acts cannot just transfer to another agency, with no record of misconduct.
