Public safety

As Sheriff, I will:

Ensure that our sworn and professional staff have the public’s best interest towards public safety by enforcing vaccine mandates amongst the Department.

Set up an elder abuse task force to prevent seniors from becoming victims and provide assistance when they are victimized. 

Address recidivism in sustainable ways, such as enrolling inmates in apprentice programs under the sponsorship of local unions, working directly with job trainers like the local Black Contractors Association, to develop marketable skills and credentials that will help them gain employment and facilitate their reintegration back into our communities.

Prioritize drug treatment over incarceration. We should treat addiction as an illness, not a crime. We should also implement mental health care and drug treatment over incarceration.

Work with each school district to identify and eliminate the threat of school shootings.
