Bias in policing

There have been several, locally-independent studies which highly suggest there is bias in policing. Yet, the current leadership within the Sheriff's Department has not even acknowledged, let alone addressed this data. We have to do a better job in understanding the data, whether it's in the jails, in the field, in our promotional processes, in our internal processes, or even within training. We must use the data to engage the community and collaboratively develop better policies and implement solutions in a more equitable way.

Police Searches

Law enforcement has legitimate reasons to stop individuals, but my expectation is that our Deputies will not use the authority granted by the public to harass or intimidate in any way.
